The Sunrise Soccer Club was founded in 1978. We were always a small club, fielding boys and girls teams, generally, about five to ten teams. The Club did have some major success here and there. In 1983, the Club won its first State Cup, capturing the U14 Girls title. Remember prior to about 2018, State Cup was by far the biggest and most competitive event in Florida. To win State Cup was a huge accomplishment. Anyway, Sunrise continued to compete as a smaller club having some nice teams along the way.
But it was in about 2005 when a renaissance would take place. Down to a couple of boys teams and one older girls team the Club focused on building great younger teams and creating a lethal pipeline of teams that could compete anywhere, anytime, against anyone. And that is exactly what happened. Starting with a u8 team in 2005. The payoff came five years later, in the team’s first State Cup in 2010 at u13, the Sunrise Sting 96/97 team won their first State Cup. That would be the first of many for the Club. In fact, by the time it was all done about 10-years later (when State Cup had started to fade), Sunrise had won more State Cup’s on the girls side than any other Club in Florida. It would be an unprecedented run of dominant teams, that was never done before, and has never been done since. Many of our players went on to compete in colleges and professionally.
Since 2018, the Club has won five national titles on the girls side, the most in Florida.
Today, Sunrise plays under the ACF Sunrise banner, and we compete in the ECNL Regional League, N1, Pre-ECNL, SEFPL, and EDP.
We continue to be focused on building teams that play beautiful soccer in a positive environment that will lead to opportunities to thrive in soccer and in life, from youth to college and beyond.
