Jacksonville, FL (June 13, 2021) – The Sunrise Sting UWS team split games during their first road trip of the season. The Sting defeated Unity (Orlando) 2-1 on Saturday and then lost to Jacksonville FC 3-0.

The team played Unity on Saturday evening. That was after an adventurous car ride that saw the team’s passenger van almost breakdown on the turnpike. Somehow, after a tire change in Fort Pierce, the team arrived just in time for the match. But the long ride didn’t hamper the team’s spirit, as the girls played strong all evening.  Bri Paige (NSU) scored a beautiful one touch goal on a cross by Victoria Bubrick (Cornell). The second goal was a pass from Devyn Encalada (North Florida) to Emma Brown (NSU).

After defeating Jacksonville FC 3-0 last week at home, Jacksonville turned the tables and handed the Sting their first loss of the season by the same score. Ariana Munoz (North Florida) scored the first goal, assisted by Ella Owen (Troy). Later in the first half, Owen received the ball down the right side, turned the corner, and put the ball passed the keeper to make it 2-0. Finally, midway through the second half, as the Sting mounted a series of attacks, and against the flow of play, Isabel Kimberly scored on a pass into the box from Ella Dudley, for the 3-0 final.

The Sting return home with a 3-1 record and will next face Winter Haven on June 26th.
