Sunrise, Florida (June 26, 2021) – The Sunrise Sting UWS team improved to 4-1 on the season with a 5-0 win over Winter Haven.
In the 10th minute, Devyn Encalada (North Florida) brought the ball down the right flank and passed to Sofia Mallardi (NSU) . Mallardi sent the ball to Emma Brown (NSU) but the keeper beat Brown to the ball and in the process it bounced out right to Mallardi who shot from 20-yards into an empty net to make it 1-0.
The second goal was set up by Chloe Laureano (Yale) who passed from the midfield out to Encalada who shot from 35 yards out into the upper left corner for the 2-0 lead.
The Sting took a 3-0 lead into halftime when Kayla McNamara (Clarion) combined with Victoria Bubrick (Cornell) who scored from the left side of 18.
In the 58th minute Chloe Laureano overlapped Gaby Moreira (NSU) who sent a lofted pass over the defender to Laureano who served up a beautiful cross right to Emma Brown who headed the ball into the back of the next for the fourth Sting goal of the match.
The fifth goal of the night was a thing of beauty as Laureano danced with the ball down the left flank, all the way to the corner and sent another cross into the box where Kiana Tulloch headed it in to close out the match.
The Sting next plays the PSL United on Sunday at 5:30 at Nob Hill.
