June 16, 2022 (Sunrise, FL) – The Sunrise Sting Women’s team improved to 3-0 on Thursday night in front of 124 fans at Nob Hill field with a 3-1 win over Palm Beach Gardens (PBG). The Sting had a barrage of shots early in the first half, but the first ball would not hit the back of the net until the 36th minute when Kelsey Salvesen (Utah State) jumped a pass from PBG in the middle of the field and found Sylvie Prepetit (American) on an angle to the left, who crossed the ball to Bri Paige (NSU) on the right side of the 18 who then crossed it back to the left side of the six and found a running Taylor Dobles (LSU) who hit the ball in stride for the 1-0 lead.

PBG struck back in the 54th minute on a breakaway pass from Nicole Vernis to Ariana Rodriguez who deftly slid the ball by the Sting keeper to tie the match at 1-1.

The Sting would take back the lead in the 75th minute on a free kick just outside the 18 from Alyssa Vazquez (American) to make the game 2-1. Sunrise scored their third goal of the night in the 83rd minute on a beautiful pass from Olivia Lewis (UCF) that found Dobles who headed it into the net for the 3-1 victory.
