FSPL kicked off this weekend with our first game in Port St Lucie against Mako. The last time these two teams met Mako won 2-1 in the State Cup.
A solid first performance made sure there was not a repeat result. Natalia Marshall-Hewitt put the home side ahead 1min 30sec after kick off with a 20yd drive outside the box. Mako didn't have any response until a penalty was awarded halfway through the half. Mako missed and when Kiana Tulloch headed the 2nd just before halftime the girls had settled well.
Second half was a little slower to begin with Mako turning up pressure but Madison Delucca in goal had little to do. Sarah Morrell's 25yd free kick sealed the win and in the final minutes Alex Oliveras had a chance to make it 4, but a great save by the Mako Keeper denied her.
Great performances all round. Well done Sunrise Sting
