Sunrise 99/00 Black Wins State Cup

The Sunrise Sting's under-14, under-15 and under-18 female age groups captured divisional titles at the recent Florida Youth Soccer Association State Cup Championships in Auburndale. It brings to 10 the total number of State Cup titles the club has won in the past six years.

The winning teams advance to the U.S. Youth Soccer Region III Championships, where they will compete against other state champions from the southeast United States.

The under-14s made it back-to-back State Cup championships by defeating the Clay County Sol, 2-0, in the finals. That Sting squad went undefeated and outscored its opponents 16-2 in the tournament.

Taylor Dobles and Gabi Santora each had a goal, while the defensive performances of Alanna Lutchmansingh, Maya Gordon, Sydney Waiters and Maya Johnson made the shutout hold up.

The state's top-ranked under-15 team also did not lose a game and netted 24 goals, while only giving up five. The Sting defeated Maitland, 3-2, in the championship and is currently ranked fourth in the Southeast Region with a 20-2-2 record.

Allison Breed had the winning goal, and goalkeeper Alana Watson was stellar with clutch saves. The team is led by captains Chloe O'Neil, Kassidy Neysmith and Jeanel-Angelle Leon.
